PATRON PROFILE

STEPHEN HAGAN

Stephen first became involved with PMNW in 2001 when starting out on his acting career as a 16-year-old. He portrayed a young man’s first night alone in a prison cell in a film made for the Northern Ireland Prison Service branch of this charity. Entitled ’I Can Hack It’ the film supported the work of dedicated NI PMNW volunteers for several years.

In between 2001 and 2022 Stephen has gained many acting accolades starring in numerous stage productions and films in the UK and USA. He has performed in leading roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company in a trilogy of plays; The Tempest, Twelfth Night and The Comedy of Errors and starred in Sir Trevor Nunn’s production of ‘Dessert’ delivering a powerful performance as a returning war hero.

He landed the lead role in the US Hallmark film ‘A Royal Christmas’ and gained representation to broaden his sights on his professional future on both sides of the Atlantic. He starred as one of Jesus’s disciples Bartholomew in the hit film ‘RISEN’ in 2015 which reached number 2 at the US Box office followed by all three seasons of Sky One’s Lucky Man that ran from 2017 to 2019. He also starred in the ITV ‘Larkins’ series shown on ITV in late 2021 and the BBC Northern Ireland Crime Series ‘Hope Street’ in 2022/2023. His popularity and versatility as an actor have seen demand for his services grow with several new projects on the horizon.

The value of Stephen’s support for PMNW has been prolonged and ingrained from the outset. Over the many years of Stephen’s involvement, he has visited numerous PMNW school events, given media interviews in helping to promote the work of PMNW, been involved in leading presentations for the charity and assisted substantially in enhancing the reputation of the charity nationally.

Following a visit to a PMNW Crime and Safety Awareness Days Stephen commented: - “PMNW does amazing work for young people around the UK. It does not preach to them and does not tell them not to do things. It just delivers facts and experiences. Most of which I did not know beforehand. Giving them the facts, they need to make the right decisions.”
