Visit to Parks Primary School: A Day of Learning
On November 20th, 2024, Parks Primary School welcomed Prison Me No Way for a visit. This event aimed to educate young minds about important social issues while making learning interactive and enjoyable.
The day began with an insightful discussion led by the ex-prison officer, who shared personal experiences from their time in the correctional system. The officer addressed students’ questions about what prison is truly like, dispelling common myths and providing a realistic view of prison life. The interactive session encouraged pupils to express their curiosities about the legal system, fostering a deeper understanding of laws and consequences of antisocial behaviours.
Antisocial Behaviour Awareness
Following the discussion on prison life, the focus shifted to antisocial behaviour. The students learned about various actions classified as antisocial, such as vandalism, bullying, and public disturbances. The session included engaging activities that helped the children grasp the impact of such behaviours on individuals and communities. To reinforce their learning, a quiz was conducted at the end, allowing pupils to showcase their understanding of the topic in a fun and competitive manner.
Online Safety CEOP
As technology continues to play a significant role in children’s lives, an online safety session was essential. The discussion revolved around popular social media platforms, games, and applications that students frequently use. The presenter provided practical tips on how to navigate these digital spaces safely, emphasising the importance of privacy and responsible online behaviour. The topic of grooming was also introduced, ensuring that students were aware of the potential dangers they might face online.
Creative Expression and Feedback
Finally, the day concluded with a fun Kahoot quiz, where students could test their knowledge in a lively format. Feedback was collected to evaluate the effectiveness of the sessions, ensuring continuous improvement for future educational visits.
The visit to Parks Primary School was a resounding success, offering students a unique opportunity to learn about critical social issues in an engaging manner. The combination of discussions, quizzes, and creative activities fostered a rich learning environment, equipping young individuals with the knowledge and awareness needed to navigate their world responsibly. This initiative highlights the importance of community engagement in education, paving the way for informed and conscientious future citizens
