halfpenny lane primary 18/9/24

The PMNW team visited Halfpenny Lane primary school in Pontefract and were immediately met with excitement and enthusiasm.

The year 5 and 6 students started the day off with an assembly about choices they make on a daily basis and how it can affect day-to-day life, also how easy it is to make the wrong choice.

This was followed on by multiple different workshops like Network Rail. This workshop allow the students to learn more about safety around railway lines and roads which is very appropriate for the year 5’s and 6’s because they are getting towards the age where they are becoming more independent.

The highlight of the day for the students was definitely the Prison Life workshop, they got the opportunity to ask as many questions as they wanted as well as the chance to see a mock up of a prison cell. The students loved looking around the van and learning about the kind of conditions that the prisoners live in.

Overall the visit to Halfpenny was very successful, the students engaged amazingly all day and seemed to learn a lot.
